30 YEAR OF MÉTIS OPPRESSION FROM THE MÉTIS NATIONAL COUNCIL

PAS DROLE PEN TUT. WEIN , 30 YEARS OF OPPRESSION THE QUÉBEC MÉTIS HAD SUFFERED FROM THE MÉTIS NATIONAL COUNCIL . NOTHING TO CELEBRATE. SAD VERY SAD TO LISTEN TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE MÉTIS NATIONAL COUNCIL CLÉMENT CHARTIER SPEECH FOR THE 30 ANNIVERSARY OF THE CREATION OF THE MÉTIS NATIONAL COUNCIL WRITTEN IN ENGLISH ONLY WITH NO STATEMENT IN FRENCH MICHIF OR CREE MICHIF.

THIS IS WHAT WILL EVENTUALLY DESTROY THE MÉTIS NATION CULTURAL TIES SUPPORTED BY ASSIMILATED LEADERS WHO NO LONGER USE THE MICHIF LANGUAGE, OR MÉTIS LEADERS WITH NO CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL CONNECTION TO THE TRUE HISTORY OF THE MÉTIS PEOPLE RIGHT FROM IT'S EASTERN BEGINNING AND WAY BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE RED RIVER SETTLEMENT. AN ORGANIZATION IN THE VERGE OF COMPLETELY EMPTYING ITS TRUES CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL TIES AND ITS LANGUAGE. QUITE A RENEWED CELEBRATION TO MAKE LOUIS RIEL TURN AROUND IN IS GRAVE IN FRENCH MICHIF OF COURSE.

YES THE STAKES ARE TOO HIGH FOR HIM BECAUSE HE DOES NOT WANT THE COUNCIL TO LOSE CONTROL TO THE FRENCH MICHIF LANGUAGE . BUT WITHOUT THIS FRENCH MICHIF LANGUAGE THE MÉTIS NATION DOES NOT EXIST. THAT WILL BE THE DAY WE WILL SEE THE METIS NATIONAL COUNCIL USING ITS NATIONAL MICHIF LANGUAGE TO COMMUNICATE WITH ITS FRENCH MICHIF CITIZENS AND STILL SPOKEN BY MOST MÉTIS IN ALL THE PROVINCES IN CANADA LIKE ST-LAURENT MANITOBA, LAC LABICHE AND ST-ANNE ALBERTA , BATOCHE SASKATCHEWAN , KELLY LAKE BRITISH COLUMBIA , NOTHERN ONTARIO AND QUÉBEC OF COURSE.

ENOUGH IS ENOUNG WE MUST ASSERT WHO WE ARE LINGUISTICALLY AS MÉTIS ALL ACROSS CANADA. THE MÉTIS PEOPLE MUST START THIS CULTURAL REVOLUTION BY ASSERTING THEMSELVES TO SPEAK DAYLY THEIR MICHIF LANGUAGE , BY RE INTRODUCING THEIR MICHIF LANGUAGE IN PUBLIC PLACES AND IN THEIR ORGANIZATIONAL POLITICAL MEETINGS. THEY MUST EMPOWER THEMSELVES TO DEMAND TO BE SERVED IN THE MICHIF LANGUAGE BY THE METIS NATIONAL COUNCIL AND TO MAKE SURE THIS LANGUAGE TO BE USE IN THEIR DAYLY BUSINESS OF OPERATION WITH THEIR CITIZENS.

ONNÉ MICHIFF STI ! FAU QUON'L PARLE , PI SA PRÉSSE .

President Clément Chartier address along with other recent posts on their MNC website offer an unsettling window into the colonized mindset. Judging by their recent non michif language use in their daily business operations, they are shifting toward a negative nationalism accompanied by a belligerent form of false patriotism. According to Chartier, “The stakes are too high.”

In a bizarre form of doctrinaire sloganeering, MNC president Clément Chartier reminds me of a fundamentalist preacher with his words, “there can be no backsliding.” He labels QUEBEC METIS as “outsiders.” Mr. Chartier refers to us as people who “have never been part of our nation” that “betray who we are.” He talks of THOSE AND QUEBEC MÉTIS who are “historically and culturally inaccurate.” They talk of “consolidating our citizenship and our boundaries.” IMAGINE A METIS NATION WITHOUT THE QUÉBEC METIS , THE MOTHERLAND OF THE MÉTIS . Where were they during the war of 1812 ? Western provinces did not existed ? Is sole Métis warriors from western Canada beside the representention of Québec when the Canadian government did recognized the Métis participation in the war of 1812 came from familly from Métis familly from Québec . It is The Rainville, the Paquet and the Doucette who came from Acadia that did received a medal and a flag from the Governor General of Canada in recognition of their familly participation as Métis in the battle of Chateauguay not the contemporary new western Métis .

Chartier repeats the words “a path” over and over. Apparently, there could never be more than one path. One history. Wrapping themselves in the language of patriotic heroes of the Métis Nation, they are obsessed with enshrining and defending a myth of national unity and distinction to usher in order and cohesion. Apparently, the word “Métis” is their word, and it only means what they want it to mean in English of course.

The Métis National Council President supported by its Provincial affiliates who voted for him pushed for distinction, only keeping a french accent of the " É " to show their LINGUISTIC NATIONAL distinction and connection as Métis. But the idea of distinction is subtly employed to restructure, to control in their own assimilation or under the contro of the Country born or Halfbreed who where raised in the English culture and language of their forefathers where French Métis culture and history was never part of their family History. It asks you to give up or vilify one identity to serve another. It obliterates nuances by employing a streamlined methodology. Their identity has become standardized, frozen in the English canadian mentality to look and act a certain way for political purposes, a kind of FLUFF AND FIDDLE WINDOW DRESSING IDENTITY for Métis. I am questioning where are their Métis culture, their Métis language, their Métis heart and their Métis soul went to ? They are ironically the one saying, the Métis of Québec are not Métis because they speak French.

But there is hope as we starting to see new Métis leaders at the Métis National Council inspired by Louis Riel vision to bring some changes . If not we will see the Québec Métis be constantly oppressed and marginalized by the western Métis members of the Métis National Council and among many other Métis in other provinces in Canada and USA because we still speak our French Michif language. It is just a question of time as this Métis Cultural and Métis linguistic revolution is growing among the Métis grass root. The western Métis needs the Québec Métis to help them gain back and retain their Michif languages . Certain things just cannot be translate and appropriate by western Métis and Country born Halfbreed to dressed themselves with symbol of what eastern Métis did provided to them for their own cultural and linguistic recognition and survival. They can not appropriate themselves of the Voyageurs and their canoes , the saches , the ribbon shirt , the fiddle and the red River cart without recognizing these items were brought to them by the eastern Métis of Québec . These items belong to the Québec Métis.

Palons nous en language mishif, pi onse compendra ben mieux.
